NVIDIA launched the first GTX 560 Ti on January 25 2011. This GTX 560 Ti had (and still has) 384 shader cores and was based on the GF114 GPU. Today, NVIDIA launched a new GeForce, the GeForce GTX 560 Ti with 448 cores. This new GTX 560 Ti is not based on the GF144 but on the GF110, the GPU behind the GTX 580 and GTX 570. A full GF110 has 512 shader cores. A group of 32 shader cores forms a SM or Streaming Multiprocessor. A full GF110 has then 512/32 = 16SMs. The new GTX 560 Ti has 448 cores or 14 SMs (GTX 580: 512 cores/16SMs and GTX 570: 480 cores and 15SMs). This GTX 560 Ti 448 cores is then the little brother of the GF110 family. Welcome!

Question: What product does the GTX 560 Ti with 448 Cores replace?
The GTX 560 Ti with 448 cores does not replace any product. It is a limited edition graphics card that sits between the GTX 560 Ti and GTX 570.

Sure, the name GTX 560 Ti sucks a bit for a card based on the GF110 GPU… Anyway, according to NVIDIA, it’s a limited edition, just in time for Xmas 2011! What’s more, this GTX 560 Ti 448 cores 56 texture units 40 ROPs will only be sold in USA and Europe. Nor cards in Asia or Australia… Reason: limited edition!

The reference clock speed of the GTX 560 Ti 448 cores is 732MHz while the 1280MB of GDDR5 memory are clocked at 950MHz real speed or 1900MHz DDR speed or 3800MHz effective speed (QDR).

pritty much the same as a GTX470..except it overclocks better..about time they came out with a 5xx series card that is equivalent to the 470

I was really wondering if these are just overclocked and rebranded GTX 470s, but judging by Techpowerup’s power figures, it’s evident they are not.

Performing very close to the GTX 570, can only be a good thing.

So thumbs up to Nvidia for a job well done.

Just another cynical NV attempt.

It’ll be just little faster then the current Ti, and will have everyone ‘wowing’ over 5 fps faster in whatever game they love (like it really mattered).

NV is the KING of confusing names and confusing drivers.

They do make good GCards though, so I guess they can be forgiven.

Judging by the “limited edition” rhetoric, it appears this is simply Nvidia’s way of recouping losses on defective GF110 parts right before the 28nm parts (whether Kepler or simply a Fermi shrink) hit the market.
