NVIDIA has launched a new Kepler-based videocard. The GeForce GT 640, a sub-100W and sub-$100 graphics card (entry level product), is based on the GK107 GPU and packs 384 shader processors (CUDA cores) clocked at 900MHz. 2048MB of DDR3 graphics memory (also clocked at 900MHz real speed, 128-bit), 32 texture units and 16 ROP units help the GPU in its job. This single slot graphics card has a TDP of 65W (no additional power connector).

The GeForce GT 640 supports OpenGL 4.2, Direct3D 11.1, CUDA, OpenCL 1.2 and PhysX. Other technologies like FXAA, TXAA, frame rate target or adaptive VSYNC are also supported.

Why do EVGA bother?
Wow, nice that Nvidia finally can get a “green” 8800GT it only been 5 years. This thing is a huge step backwards from what a GT240 DDR5 provided, given two (improved) architectures have been tried.
