NVIDIA graphics drivers installation



NVIDIA has published the first beta driver from the new R304 family of drivers. This driver comes with performance boost (Fermi and Kepler GPUs), new SLI and 3D Vision profiles and new PhysX System Software v9.12.0604.

As you can see, there is no longer driver for WinXP, at least for beta versions…

R304.48 is based on a brand new development branch: r304_00-88. R304.48 is an OpenGL 4.2 driver and exposes 301 OpenGL extensions (GL=275 + WGL=26) for a GeForce GTX 680. There is one new OpenGL extension (actually one new WGL extension) compared to R302.80:

    Nice!
    I expect that I can give the version with it.
    Since we already have OpenGL ES 1 and 2 with 3 in the pipeline, it’s necessary.

    I just tested these drivers with Unigine Tropics.
    With same settings (an multiple runs) these drivers perform worse. About 1-2% less.

    (Maximum settings @ 2560×1600 and dual GTX 580 SLI clocked at 910/2250)
